My flight experience taught me that nothing is impossible; you can be anybody and do anything. Your ability to fly signifies hope, possibilities, reality and freedom of expression. It may also reflect your strong will and is a reminder for you not to give up. Nobody can tell you what you cannot do and accomplish.

Usually I’m scared of heights, but somehow flying tandem with my instructor was so different than what I had anticipated. As soon as my feet swiftly lifted from the ground I didn’t feel fear. Rather, I felt joy, anticipation and enthusiasm. I felt AWAKE as if the veil had been lifted and I could see clearly. Everything was so small. It all became a lovely pattern of beautiful shades of green; a patchwork of nature and mankind merging together to create an intricate pattern of farmland, flat lands and Florida Everglades. In the distance, I saw the faint Miami skyline glistening on the Atlantic coast and even further away Ft. Lauderdale and maybe even Key Biscayne. Florida is so flat that you can literally see for miles when you rise up. Wow!

That day, the true lesson I learned though, was not just about the characteristics of a paraglider and what it takes to pilot one, but I also realized that big problems are tiny when you look at them from a different perspective. As a matter of fact, everything and everyone is tiny when seen from above. All of those obstacles that usually stand in your way of achievements or success are not big at all.
