Let’s be realistic.  Everything in life has some type of risk associated with it.  Aviation is no exception.  This is why we go above and beyond to prioritize student safety.  This means using or allowing students to use proper equipment for their skill level.  It also means working adequately with the students’ learning curve and making sure students are very confident with the task at hand before taking any new tasks.  This means being honest with students at all times.  Paraglide Florida is committed to minimizing the risk factor as much as we can in every single step stone the pilot accomplishes.  We are USHPA and USPPA certified instructors and abide by their SOP’s.

Upon passing the P1 and P2 USHPA examinations, and after paying annual USPHA membership, you will receive your P1 and P2 pilot rating certification.  This allows you to fly at all the P2 USPHA sites in the US and gives the pilot access to all the benefits and resources that USPHA offers.

Affiliate/Student, Pilot, and Rogallo USHPA members enjoy third-party liability coverage for recreational activities under USHPA’s General Liability Policy.

Insurance coverage available as a result of USHPA membership is available through Recreation RRG.

All USHPA members have third party liability coverage under the USHPA GL policy as a member benefit. This covers claims made by third parties (such as spectators, bystanders, etc.) for damage or injury caused by member actions while paragliding or hang gliding. It also covers the costs and fees associated with any legal defense (for example, if the damaged party decides to sue the member or USHPA).

Insurance coverage under the USHPA GL policy is automatic with membership. Affiliate/Student (30-day) members are also covered.

This USPHA insurance does not include personal injuries as a result of training or any medical bills as a result of any incident or accident.

A Novice paraglider pilot has the knowledge and basic skills necessary to fly and practice without direct instructor supervision but within significant operating limitations. The pilot understands the USHPA paragliding rating systems and recommended operating limitations. The pilot shall use good judgment and have a level of maturity commensurate with the rating. Pilots must demonstrate Beginner level skills and knowledge before obtaining the Novice rating. All witnessed flights must be pre-planned by the pilot and discussed with the Instructor.

Paraglide Florida trains in different training sites.  We take  our decisions based on student needs, place of residence,  and weather conditions.   We use some local beaches in Palm Beach County where we can train in diverse wind conditions.  We use some public airports like HGA in Homestead and Belle Glades.  They offer huge take off and landings areas that suit students on their first fights.  We use other local nearby fields aswell, that are perfectly suit for practicing or ground-handling in light wind conditions.

Our students in training will be part of a “WhatsUp” Group Chat named “ParaglideFloridaTraining” where we will share all pertinent details for any scheduled activities.

Most Important, a positive attitude.  Dress sporty, comfortable, protecting your ankles is always better. Wear shoes for active people.  Check your weather forecast and bring water, hat, sunglasses, face scarf, and an energy snack.  Remember its Florida. It gets very hot sometimes.

    We rise by lifting others.
